3D話題延燒,在本屆Computex發揮得淋漓盡致。而為了解決3D內容不足的隱憂,參展廠商紛紛使出渾身解數,展示導入「2D轉3D」技術的產品,藉解決現階段3D影片來源不足問題來搶攻市場。
3D內容不足是3D電視的發展限制之一,因此發展2D轉3D的影像轉換技術已成為解決問題的捷徑。三星電子(Samsung)使用DDD授權的TriDef 3D技術,能即時轉換網路電視(IPTV)、DVD、藍光等多種格式的影像訊息,消費者只需配戴特殊眼鏡,即可觀賞3D內容。
而東芝(Toshiba)也與IBM、Sony合作打造CELL Broadband Engine處理器,採用Trivector技術,可分析2D分鏡,估算每個分鏡的影像深度,將普通2D內容轉換成3D立體效果,輸出內容涵蓋電視節目和遊戲等,還具有多頻道同時錄影與網路連結等功能。
2D轉3D技術的優點,在於多數的2D影像幾乎都可以全部3D化。儘管目前市場上有聲音批評2D轉3D技術尚未成熟,但事實上,在3D顯示器不斷推陳出新,市場上3D內容又極度缺乏的情況之下,這種方式將能突破3D顯示應用的門檻,緩解好不容易購買3D顯示器卻又苦無3D內容可供播放的情況,也解決現階段3D影片來源不足的燃眉之急。
當然,這種2D轉3D技術不只應用於一般的家用顯示器上,目前部分好萊塢(Hollywood)電影工作室為了節省成本,紛紛採用這種技術來將2D電影轉換成3D電影,且逐漸成為一股風潮。近期也有部分採用此種方式製作的立體電影上映。正宗3D電影在拍攝的成本上卻高得嚇人。據了解,轉換一部2D影片的成本只需約200萬美元,但實際拍攝3D影片成本則要高出很多。例如《阿凡達》,據報導,光拍攝這部影片便花費了2億3700萬美元,實際費用則可能高達3億美元。如此高昂的製作成本,原因在於所有的攝影器材都必須是3D專門設備所導致的。某電影工作室執行長Alan Horn表示,事實上2D轉3D技術,對於影片品質的影響並不大。在成本與時效的考量之下,2D轉3D或許是現下不錯的選擇。
2D轉3D究竟是雞肋乎?還是仙丹乎?部分消費者認為2D轉3D技術只是食之無味,棄之可惜的雞肋。真的轉了,其實影像立體感欠佳,但不轉,又沒現成3D內容可看。儘管目前2D轉3D技術還存在諸多問題,然而在3D內容缺乏的情況下,或許這正是暫時解決內容不足的仙丹了吧。展望未來,則期待能有更多夠水準的3D影片,滿足消費者那顆渴望3D的心。
